#1MinutoContraElCáncer
Yesterday, in Valencia’s city centre, daily commuters and passers-by witnessed the annual charity collection of the Asociación Española de Lucha contra el Cáncer [Spanish Association Against Cancer] in which hundreds of volunteers, workers and patrons of the charity take to the streets with two thousand piggy banks and 144 fundraising stations to ask the public for their support.
I had the opportunity to meet the president of the valencian association, Tomás Trenor, together with ex-footballer, Juan Cruz Sol, at the Valencia CF stand in the city centre.
This year, in addition to the usual street fundraising, the AECC wanted to create a support movement for cancer patients, as well as promoting solidarity and hope with the “#1MinutoContraelCancer” campaign, where the minute of silence that is normally offered in the event of deaths and farewells is transformed into music as an expression of life and hope.
It was great to be a part of this nationwide campaign, to represent my club in the community, to show my support for cancer patients and help raise awareness for this great cause.
